Petition Action

Rename Breast Cancer in Men to Pectoral Cancer.

Petition Details

The term Breast Cancer is misleading and not associated with men.
If it's name was changed then more men would examine themselves as the word Breast Cancer is directed to a woman.
Breast Cancer for Females.
Pectoral Cancer for Men.

Additional Information

This is NOT to have the full name changed.
It's just so men can relate to it. As Breast Cancer is only directed at females, men actually probably think they could never get Breast Cancer.
If it was renamed to Pectoral Cancer for Men only.
Then more cases would be found.
Female = Breast Cancer
Male= Pectoral Cancer.
It would make it more Gender direct. And men would check themselves more often and do it as standard.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the names of cancers. You could start a new petition asking the Government or Parliament to do something that they are responsible for. For example, you could ask the Government to do more to raise awareness of breast cancer in men.
