Allow Police, Fire and services dogs, to stay with their handler on retirement.
Sergeant Evans of West Mercia Constabulary retired after giving over 30 years service to us. To thank him for this, the police have taken away his Police dog to be given to a new handler.
This is not only an abhorrent act to the handler, but cruel to the dog, tearing it away from it's family.
Sergeant Evans offered to fund the cost of a new Police dog, but was ignored.
West Mercia Constabulary have not only acted in a diabolical, underhand and ignorant manner, they are openly intimidating supporters of this cause.
The bond of trust between a service dog and it's handler is total. To tear this dog away from the person she has bonded with and trusts is tantamount to cruelety. What a way to thank a police officer for his loyalty to the Queen and his country!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
This would be an operational decision for the relevant service, not a decision for the UK Government or Parliament to take.
