Commission an independent review of the effects of caring, on carers incomes.
Many Unpaid Carers are reliant on Carers Allowance, in order to help "make ends meet", however with the increasing costs required to fund the needs of caring for people with disabilities, Carers Allowance often does not meet the demand.
In 2008, the Carers Strategy looked to review carers benefits as part of a wider process of welfare reform. Parliamentary Business - Publications & Records, Select Committee on Works and Pensions Fourth Report (3) Carers Incomes and benefits. Neither the last Labour Government, nor any Government since have implemented the recommendations made from that review.
