Hold mobile phone companies accountable for their exploitation of child workers
A recent investigation has found children as young as four working in Congolese mines to extract cobalt for smartphones. The UK should introduce for legislation making it compulsory for mobile phone companies to ensure no children are being exploited at any point in their supply chain.

Cobalt is one of the most precious minerals in the world for the tech industry. And a majority of the world’s supply is found in the DRC — one of the poorest countries in the world.
The tech companies allegedly buy the mineral from third-party suppliers without checking the working conditions or ages of those who are mining for it. This should not be allowed to continue.
