House of Lords to become an elected body
The House of Lords in the "upper" house and yet NOT one of the peers who sit in it have been elected by the UK electorate to do so. Instead peers are created by the whim of the Prime Minister and those nominated by the Leader of the Opposition and other party leaders.
This situation is not democratic and not acceptable in the twenty first century.
By signing this e-petition you agree that the government should bring forward legislation to make the House of Lords a 100% elected by the UK electorate.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
