Delay Article 50 until after Police/CPS action and any by-elections held.
Government majority is 17. CPS have files on 20 MPs who may have broken law in general election. If HALF being investigated resulted in by-elections, government may lose majority. The conditions to leave EU (if at all) would be in parties manifesto at an election resolving doubts about legitimacy.
Commenting on the outcome of the investigation, Sir John Holmes, Chair of the Electoral Commission -

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Prime Minister has already written to European Council President Donald Tusk to notify him of the UK’s intention to leave the EU, so it is not possible for the Government to take this action.
