MPs should not hold editorial jobs in the press (e.g. George Osborne MP)
It is not acceptable that MPs are able to hold editorial jobs in the press. This gives DIRECT control over newspaper content and makes a mockery of the independent media we rely on to hold parliament to account. This is in response to George Osborne's appointment at the Evening Standard.
Note that I am not saying MPs should be prohibited from expressing their opinion in newspaper columns as this does not affect the freedom of expression/speech of other journalists. I am specifically appalled that an MP is in a position to edit the content of a major newspaper.
