Petition Action

Make it illegal for people to sell fake merchandise outside of live music venues

Petition Details

There is an ever growing number of people selling fake merchandise outside of venues when artist's play. Unfortunately nothing gets done about this. It affects artist income directly as they make their majority of money for merchandise. Help artists by making this illegal.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action. Selling fake goods is already illegal, so we're not sure what action you would like Government or Parliament to take.

You can find out more about fake goods and the law here:

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/report-fake-or-counterfeit-goods/

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking the UK Government or Parliament to make venues responsible for monitoring and reporting people selling fake merchandise outside venues when artists play.
