Investigate abuses of disabled people by the Department of Work & Pensions
Accusations are surfacing that Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments by some DWP contractors are intrusive and inappropriate - including assessors asking claimants "why haven't you killed yourself yet?" These allegations should be investigated immediately.
These allegations are deeply disturbing but unsurprising. It is wholly inkeeping with the DWP's appalling track record since the Conservative Party came to power in 2010. The UN has said there is evidence of "grave or systematic violation of rights of people with disabilities" by this government.
There should be a full public inquiry into the the sustained mistreatment of those with physical and/or mental disabilities by the DWP and their contractors.
