Petition Action

Delay Article 50 until CPS completes investigations on spending in last election

Petition Details

Prosecutors must decide whether to charge the MPs after an investigation into whether party spending on an election battlebus that brought activists to marginal seats was wrongly recorded as national spending. Successful prosecutions of sitting MPs could lead to election results being declared void.

Additional Information

These are very serious allegations and the penalties for those guilty of election fraud could result in large fines and even imprisonment. It's possible that the Conservative majority will be depleted and that their mandate to form a government is not valid.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Prime Minister has already written to European Council President Donald Tusk to notify him of the UK’s intention to leave the EU, so it is not possible for the Government to take this action.
