Revoke the Tarmac Tax

Petition Details

Runners from around the country are dismayed at the Government's introduction of the so called 'Tarmac Tax'. The 20% levy on training shoes is designed to raise funds to help local authorities repair pavements worn out by overuse where jogging is a popular form of exercise.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure which tax you're referring to. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
