Reinstate the National Insurance contributions made by veterans
The national insurance contributions made by service personnel during their service careers were downgraded as of April 2016, and classed as a lesser value "Opt out" contribution, meaning the state pension they are due receive will be lower.
Military veterans who claimed their state pension prior to April 2016 are receiving the full state pension, anyone claiming their state pension after this date will/are receiving a lower rate due to the change stated above.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
In April 2016 a check was done of each individual’s entitlement under the old State Pension system and the new one. The higher of the two will form their starting amount for the new State Pension. We are therefore not sure what you mean by "the state pension they are due to receive will be lower". You can find out more information about the transition to the new state pension here:
