Work to end the LGBT+ erasure in British TV and films
LGBT+ issues are being diminished in British TV and film by the removal of song lyrics, straight actors and changing the sexuality of characters to make for a generally more "family friendly" viewing experience yet this does nothing but remove positive role models for young LGBT+ children in Britain
Several LGBT+ history films have included mostly straight casts, such as Benedict Cumberbatch playing Alan Turing in The Imitation Game or a majority straight cast in Pride. Very recently, pro-LGBT lyrics were removed from LGBT rights activist Lady Gaga's acceptance song Born This Way on prime time BBC. The Government must ensure LGBT issues are not hidden behind the watershed for viewer figures and LGBT role models kept from young children who need inspiration and signs of acceptance the most
