Make it illegal for airlines to over book.
Authorities should not allow airlines to re-sell tickets already purchased, at the moment airlines are allowed to overbook an airplane and re-allocate people at their convenience.
Holidays are ruined by a dishonest and misleading service.
If someone buys an airline ticket then that seat reservation should belong to whoever bought it in first place and only that person.
Although consumer rights normally protect buyers, in this case it seems open to exploitation by the airlines.
Extra tickets are sold on the assumption that some people may miss their flight but when no one misses a flight, the rightful owner could find themselves without a seat.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
This law is the responsibility of the EU, not the UK Government or Parliament. The European Parliament has a petitions system:

Alternatively, you could start a new petition calling on the UK Government to work with other EU member states to change the law on this.
