Petition Details

I think the idea to spend 500 million pounds at this time to change the colour of the British passport from burgundy to navy is both ridiculous and crass whilst thousands of children live in poverty and families struggle to put food on the table and pay their bills.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK passport is routinely redesigned every five years to guard against counterfeiting. The Government is launching the procurement process now to ensure there is sufficient time to produce and design UK passports from 2019 when the current contract ends. The contract covers design, print, assembly and personalisation of passports.
