Capping bank charges
Government to look at capping bank charges on going over the arranged borrowing at amount that affordable to everyone. So people on low income that been hit by bank charges could still pay for the basics like food, electricity and water,
For example a bank could not charged more than £15 per month. Somebody who under 25 and on JSA who has overdrawn could still able to pay for the basics and paid the bank £15.
Where as currently, my bank could charged up to £186 (£6 a day that the account is overdrawn for). If somebody under 25 and on JSA and was overdrawn for a month. That person couldn't afford the basic for three weeks because the bank has taken £180 before the giros has enter the account.
Government does with t.v license and the data protection fee. Why can't the government do it with banks?
