Petition Details

This is a petition for a referendum on whether to replace the the Crown with a democratically elected head of state and the House of Lords with a democratically elected upper house and introduce a written constitution which politicians must uphold.

Additional Information

The Crown is an hereditary body which is unelected and still holds executive powers over legislation in Britain and cost the public £360 million per annum. This petition is for there to be a referendum to abolish the Crown and replace it with a democratically elected head of state and the House of Lords with a democratically elected upper house. The introduction of the democratically elected bodies would also involve the introduction of w written constitution which politicians must adhere to
