We demand that TV debates take place before the upcoming general election
Today (18/04/2017) Theresa May announced there would be a general election in June, as is her right.
However, we are unhappy that 10 Downing Street have said that NO TV DEBATES ARE DUE TO TAKE PLACE.
Please sign to get this decision reversed.
We believe that no matter which side of the political spectrum you come from, live TV election debates are a cornerstone of modern democracy and this tradition must be upheld for the good of our democracy.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
This would be a decision for Theresa May to make as leader of the Conservative party, not as the Prime Minister. We can only accept petitions about the Prime Minister’s actions as part of the Government, not as the leader of a political party.
