Require that there are multiple televised debates before the general election.
The last two general elections were pre-empted by multiple televised debates each. The undersigned argue that these debates provide a helpful avenue for parties to explain their policies and allow for informed scrutiny and decision-making by the general public.
This is particularly vital as this election will be conducted years before the timeframe indicated by the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act of 2011. While the calling of a "snap" election is allowed under particular circumstances, it means that the general public have less time to make an informed decision. Televised debates will be vital in allowing the public to do so, and their absence is unacceptable in light of engagement with previous debates. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32673439
