Petition Action

Let 16 and 17 year olds vote in the 2017 UK General Election.

Petition Details

The Prime Minster has decided to hold a General Election on 8th June 2017. 16 and 17 year olds should be able to vote, as many 16 and 17 year olds understand and are interested in politics and should have a say in something that will effect their future.

Additional Information

16 year olds can legally live alone, get married, pay taxes, start a family and even die for their country, but are not allowed to have a say in how their country is run. This needs to be changed. They should be able to have a say in who will make up the government who will not only effect their day to day lives, but the government who will be securing the Brexit deal, which is something that young people will be massively effected by.
