Delay General Election until 08-17 for Summer exams and Parliamentary recess.
Given the intense pressure on students and professionals undertaking Summer exams, the early date of June 8th excludes these voters from engaging fully in the election process.
MPs must be free to both campaign and govern effectively; this requires a more timely general election after recess.
By “engage”, we mean: have a full understanding of the facts and policies of those campaigning; have the time to consider their vote, without the stress of crucial Summer examinations; and for those who want to campaign on behalf of their parties, the time to do so.
The current political climate we face needs the MPs' full attention, without an imminent election.
The best outcome for everyone requires careful action; such short notice does not allow for this.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Her Majesty the Queen has made a proclamation setting Thursday 8 June as the date of the election. Once a proclamation like this has been made, the date of the election can’t be changed.
