Petition Action

Tie HM Forces and Police pay and pension annual increases to the inflation rate.

Additional Information

Our Armed Forces and Police Service do not have the right to strike in order to protest about pay levels and as such are an easy target for the Government when they are looking for areas to save costs.
Annual increases in benefits are calculated against inflation and because of this benefits continue to be increased at a time when our Armed Forces and Police Services are enduring pay freezes that in real terms reduce the actual value of the persons salary and pension.
The Government should introduce legislation to ensure that servants of the Crown who do not have the right to withold labour are rewarded for their loyalty by having their pay and pensions tied to a minimum annual increase equal to the rate used when calculating benefit increases.
