Free Vote by MPs on EU Referendum
It has been reported that the Prime Minister is to enforce a three line whip to ensure conservatives vote against the forthcoming EU Referendum Bill. All MPs are elected to represent their constituents and not the wishes of one man. It is immaterial whether or not that person is Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister is confident that the right course of action is to stay in the EU he should have nothing to fear from free and frank discussions of this issue in Parliament.
This petition request support for all MPs to be allowed a free vote on the EU Referendum Bill following full discussion of the facts in parliament.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Whipping is a matter for political parties, and not HM Government.
