Petition Action

Reduce Corparte food wate

Additional Information

Mr David Cameron,

I have first-hand experience of working for a major retail food company and see first-hand how very good food is thrown away on a daily and weekly basis and would like to petition for this food to be given to charities and the underprivileged people here in the UK.. In these very hard times the free food will help many homes survive.

An estimated pounds 6.7m worth of food is being thrown away every week by supermarkets - enough to feed 370,575 homeless people.

Sunday Mirror:
Supermarkets are throwing away nearly two million tons of fresh food every year...as people in poor countries starve.
A Sunday Mirror investigation has found major chains dump enough food to feed 6.3million people a year.
And our check of supermarket bins found that much of the grub they chuck out is not even past its sell-by date.
