Donate unsold supermarket magazines/comics to local schools.
Tens of thousands of unsold children's magazines and comics are being returned every month by supermarkets to publishers whereupon they are shredding and pulping copies which could be read in local primary and secondary schools and libraries.
Children's comics/ sports magazines are a useful tool to encourage and enthuse younger readers, especially boys who feel marginalised in school libraries which often don't stock their preferred genre.
Carbon emissions are also wasted from transporting this bulk up and down the UK when alternatively this could be donated to local schools and once they have finished with them could be recycled in their own paper facilities on site.
