Petition Action

Ringfence the future funding of scientific research in the UK after Brexit.

Petition Details

The UK is a world leader in scientific research, particularly within our universities. We currently rely heavily on the EU science funding from various sources within Horizon 2020. There is no clear plan on how this will be funded after 2020 if we do not agree a deal for science during Brexit talks.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure whether you'd like the UK Government to commit to maintaining current levels of science funding in the UK by making up any shortfall caused by leaving the EU or commit to ring-fencing current UK Government spending on science after we leave the EU.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
