Rid the TV licence fee for all students living away from home
Although often living on money provided by government or guardians, students in the UK are still expected to pay for their television licence. Many students already find it difficult to budget their living costs without this extra outgoing.
An article from The Telegraph states that, due to a recent change in the law, 'Magistrates will also be permitted to apply their discretion in situations where the defendant had been experiencing "significant financial hardship" at the time due to "exceptional circumstances".'
Students are often in some sort of financial hardship and are refused the luxury of watching television whilst in uni merely because they cannot afford this.
