Minimum wage for 16 year olds should be increased.
We believe that the current under 18 minimum wage should be increased from £4.00 to at least £5.60 per hour.
The current minimum wage for 16 and 17 year olds is not sustainable for basic standard of living. Prices of everyday necessities have been rising but the minimum wage is not proportionate to this rise. These young people could be working the same hours with the same experience as someone over 18 but because of their age are paid much less.
