Add pet suffocation risk labels to all crisp/snack packets!

Petition Details

Many pets are losing their lives to crisp packets and other snack bags. My beloved dog of 15 and a half years suffocated in a Walkers crisp bag two days ago. I've learned many other pets have too been victims. A simple reminder like this may help to build an awareness of the risks they pose to pets.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're sorry to hear about your dog.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.

The EU, not Government or Parliament, decides what warning labels have to go on packaging. Most of the labels on packaging, such as traffic light nutrition labels and litter campaign labels, are there due to voluntary schemes.

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government to encourage the industry to add labels to packaging to raise awareness of the danger to pets.
