Begin review of road traffic offences and sentencing announced in May 2014.
An 'urgent review' into cycling offences will not make the roads safer. It's time for the government to stop chasing headlines and immediately move forward with the comprehensive review of all road trafiic offences and sentencing that they announced in May 2014.
The government has an announced an 'urgent review' into cycling offences after the death of Kim Briggs. This was a tragic but very unusual case. Of the 400 or so pedestrians killed a year in the UK, on average two are struck by cyclists. Focusing on cyclists alone will not make the roads safer. The government announced a comprehensive review of all road trafiic offences and sentencing in May 2014. It's time for it to start.
