To call and end to 'dementia tax'. .

Petition Details

There needs to be a fairer system for paying for care between the individual and the state. There must be system in place to provide all people suffering with Dementia good quality care.

Additional Information

Social care is means-tested and anyone who has assets - including their house over the value of £23,250 are expected to pay for their care. This is not a fair system!
The cost to the U.K is £26 billion year with two-thirds of this cost being paid by people with dementia or their families either in unpaid care (£11.6 billion) or in paying for private social care.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you're concerned about the costs of care for people with dementia, but we're not sure what action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take to address this.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
