Ban Parliamentary Whips
Democracy is founded on the right for people to have a say in what goes on in Government.
We, the people elect our officials on the basis that they will vote in favour or against a motion before Parliament that is representative of the views of their constituents and the general British public.
Parliamentary whips are contrary to democracy by encouraging, pushing, poking, prodding, bullying and threatening our elected representatives to vote along the party line. This petition supports the abolition of Parliamentary whips, so that our elected MPs are free to vote in the way that represents the views of their constituents and the public, not the views of their leader.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Whipping is a matter for political parties and not HM Government
