Minimum 10 years recommended sentence for car jackings
Due to a rapid increase in violent car jackings throughout the country. With total disregard to any social or moral values and no consideration for the disabled or children. It is know very important to have the right punishment in place to reflect this crime being committed every hour.
No regard for elderly, disabled, women or children.
Harsher sentences for all car jackings.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
At the moment, there is no offence of "carjacking" to which a minimum sentence could apply. Someone stealing a car could be charged with the offence of robbery of a vehicle. Where there is also a threat of or use of violence, the offence can carry a maximum penalty of life.
You could start a new petition asking the UK Government or Parliament to create a new offence of carjacking with a minimum sentence of 10 years, if that's what you'd like to happen.
