Referendum ~ UK
The UK to urge the UN to add Catalonia as a non-self-governing territory.
The UN charter defines a Non-Self-Governing Territory (NSGT) as one “whose people have not yet attained a full measure of self-government”. Given the recent actions of the Spanish regime, as permanent member of the UNSC the UK should urge that Catalonia be added to the NSGT list maintained by the UN
Catalonia has a unique language, culture and ethnicity. Between 1930 and 1970 Spain as a state committed various violent repressions on the Catalonians and restricted their culture, language and identity. The Spanish terrorists who did this were formally pardoned by Madrid. Currently the Catalonians are expressing their right to self-determination through a peaceful referendum, which has been violently banned by the Spanish regime.
