e-petition debates in parliament cannot invoke the party whips
Any e-petition that reaches the 100,000 limit and is debated in parliament cannot be subject to the party whips. In these cases MPs are to listen to the electorate, uphold the principles of an adequate democracy, debate the issue and be afforded a "free vote". MPs are not permitted to put party loyalties before their electorates in these debates.
