Petition Action

Change assessments for invisible illnesses

Petition Details

People with invisible illnesses i.e.: Addison's disease, diabetes, Crohn's disease, cancer and many more . They have the same assessments as non able bodied people. This is unfair and unjust. The assessors have no knowledge of their illnesses and they override the doctors diagnosis and reports.

Additional Information

My son has type 1 diabeties for 25 yrs and primary Addison's for three yrs. after a two year fight he got awarded pip by the court. That was dec 2016. Taken away in July 2017 saying he's fit and healthy. An Illnesses with no cure but according to the assessor he's ok. They're not medically trained or specialists in his illnesses but they over ride the doctors opinions and diagnosis. We want to prevent this from happening. We are Living/surviving with these illnesses that can't be cured.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about how people with invisible illnesses are assessed, but we're not sure exactly which assessments you're concerned about or how you'd like them to be changed.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
