Remove the moped restriction of 28MPH. (50cc) to save lives and prevent traffic.

Petition Details

Ever stuck behind a moped doing 28mph on a 50mph road (that's almost half the speed!)? Well it's not their fault. Most Mopeds are fully capable of going faster which is actually safer! What would you do if a car was coming at you? You might accelerate out the way, something mopeds can't do!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

The law doesn't restrict the speed of mopeds, so we're not sure what action you'd like Government or Parliament to take. The law defines mopeds as vehicles that are designed to have a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour. A vehicle that goes faster than 28 mph is defined as a motorbike.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
