Prevent overproduction of meat under the DEFRA excemption on religious slaughter
Under DEFRA guidelines the excemption for religious slaughter is for those groups that require it. This is being either abused or not enforced. This results in groups that do not require them receiving products which are against their ethical /religious needs which may be against their human rights
As there is no legislation requiring religiously slaughtered meat to be labelled consumers are denied choice to not buy/ eat these products.
