Stop charging welfare claimants 55p per minute to telephone the DWP

Petition Details

This is an unnecessary additional cost that people on low incomes should not have to face. Liz Truss claimed that people could always visit their job centre instead but as so many are closing and an appointment is required anyway then telephoning becomes unavoidable. 55p per minute is outrageous.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

If you would like the Government or Parliament to provide a free Universal Credit helpline, you could sign this petition instead:

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/202651

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
