Petition Details

The Equality Act 2010 states that people may not be discriminated against on various grounds, such as race and other characteristics. Calling a group of people OAPs stereotypes them in a negative way by shaping the public's attitude towards them. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ageism)

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government or Parliament aren't responsible for controlling what words people use.

You could start a new petition asking for the UK Government to use different terms in its own documents, if that's what you want to happen.
