Make it an offence against the spread of false information posed as fact
Recent events/polls in the world have resulted in more questions as to there legitimacy. Information is easily accessible however we have not understood the power it has. By outlawing "fake news" it can hopefully allow the public to research the facts to any issue so that they can be well informed.
The US election, the UK EU referendum as well as each European country's elections are the events where concerns about misleading information has been spread. The effects of Social Media have played a big part in the spread of this information - more people are now believing what they see popping up on their profile rather than actually reading a book, going to an official channel for information or taking part in informed debate about various issues

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
