Petition Action

Make the BBC keep Crimewatch on air

Petition Details

Crimewatch helps solves crime and makes crime prevention fun and educational. It is the purest form of public service broadcasting and the Government (DCMS and Home Office) needs to do what it can to make sure it continues.

Additional Information

The new format was terrible which is why ratings fell. Crimewatch viewers have helped solve hundreds of cases and track lots of fugitives and should revert to the old style.p and be given a regular prime time slot on BBC One.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.

You might like to write to the BBC to make this suggestion.
