Petition Action

We the undersigned call on the UK Parliament to recognise the Catalan Republic.

Petition Details

38.47% of eligible electors supported Catalan independence - despite violence and intimidation from the Spanish police designed to prevent votes from being cast.

37.42% of eligible electors supported Brexit.

Additional Information

The Catalan Parliament has a clear mandate for their declaration of independence.

The UK Parliament should set an example for the world of recognising the commitment of the Catalan people to the non-violent expression of their political will.

No less is acceptable from the Mother of Parliaments, and a failure to act swiftly in support of democracy in Catalonia would bring lasting shame to the UK Parliament.
