Stop the introduction of GP referral management centres

Petition Details

GP referrals to specialist must now be approved and vetted by referral management centres. However, the British Medical Journal (BMJ) reported that there is no evidence the centres are reducing costs and improving quality of referrals. Thus, the centres serve to reduce access to medical treatment.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The decision to use referral management centres appears to be one for local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), not the UK Government or Parliament.

You may wish to contact your local CCG directly. You can find out who your local CCG is and how to contact them here: www.nhs.uk/Service-Search/Clinical-Commissioning-Group/LocationSearch/1
