Petition Action

Sack David Gauke Secretary of State & Neil Coulding over Universal Credit botch.

Petition Details

Universal Credit is an unmitigated disaster.

This failed policy has only been rolled out to 0.8 % of the total amount of people expected to be on this benefit by 2022.

If David Gauke and the minister responsible for its implementation refuse to address issues they must be sacked and replaced.

Additional Information

Universal Credit rolls six existing benefits into one single monthly payment:

Main concerns:

6 weeks with no money, no help with NHS costs, dental costs, access to state school meals. Advances are loans to be paid back.

Claw back rates on work allowances current at 67p per every £1 of earnings.

Childcare payments need to be made upfront.

Punitive sanctions regime for low paid workers.

Reducing poor to second rate savers.

Councils cracking under strain and at breaking point.
