Requesting salary history to be made unlawful in the UK.

Petition Details

Requesting salary history as part of job selection process has to be made unlawful in the UK.This has been made a law in New York and other US states. So why not in the UK?

Being underpaid once shouldn't condemn you to a lifetime of inequality.

Additional Information

- A number of people are underpaid in the UK. Salary history should not be a factor in determining new pay as that undervalues the current market price for the position and skills of the employee.

- There is gender pay gap in the UK, and this will help bridge closing the gap. This is a well known issue in the UK which the government is tackling.

- Jobs will be offered based on skills, merit and demands of the job. Not gender, race or ethnicity.
