Enforce stricter penalties on parents who don't pay their child support payments
Throughout the country there are more than 700,000 families with dependant children who are presently owed more than £1 billion in unpaid child maintenance. By law all parents are legally responsible for their children but the Government does little to actually enforce this law.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It's already possible for people who don't pay child maintenance to be sent to prison for non-payment, or to have deductions taken from their bank account, their earnings or from their benefits. There is more information about this here:
