Make MP Disciplinary hearings open to the public as a default

Petition Details

At present, the internal disciplinary investigation and hearings of members of parliament, are not open to public scrutiny.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what kind of disciplinary hearings you're referring to. Your petition calls on the leaders of political parties, not the UK Government or Parliament, to take action, so we think you're concerned about the disciplinary processes run by political parties.

At the moment, political parties are responsible for deciding on their own internal processes. If you'd like that to change, you could start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to require political parties to hold certain kinds of disciplinary hearings in public.

If you're concerned about another kind of disciplinary hearing, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
