Petition Action

stop unfair child maintainance to parents who have equal time with children

Petition Details

a paying parent of child maintainance is required too pay their ex partner even if they have the children over 156 nights a year or more. this means the main carer (in most cases the mother) has the children, at most 5.25 days a month more! I feel this is unfair as it equates to hundreds £ a year

Additional Information

example- a father of 2 earning £539 pw that has the children approximately 166 nights a year still has to pay £212 per month despite the mother having the children less that 3 nights more per month !
He still has the same child costs, food clothes etc

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about how child maintenance payments are calculated but we're not sure what exactly you want to change.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
