Introduce specific stalking legislation and train the police on this issue

Petition Details

There are 700,000 stalking victims in England and Wales each year. Stalking is becoming an accepted part of society, promoted by the media, and sometimes it results in murder. There are currently no specific laws to tackle this and police aren't adequately trained, hence this proposal is necessary.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There are already specific laws on stalking, so we're not sure what further action you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

You can find out more about the current law here:

http://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN06261/SN06261.pdf

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
